To complement our growing ASIC team in the UK, we are looking for an experienced ASIC Design Manager with the skills and enthusiasm to significantly enhance Rakon’s competitive position.
About The Job
You will be a technical leader/department manager to take charge of the ASIC design activities globally by diligently managing the business daily operations and providing technical insights, improving and optimising the workflow, and continuing the growth of Rakon ASIC-based products.
Responsibilities will include:
- Work with the team leaders to lead the global ASIC development teams in the design, manufacture, and ongoing production of ASICs, enabling and supporting the needs of Rakon’s business.
- Collaborate with the admin team in business administration (rent, insurance, payroll, etc.) with the core functional teams in New Zealand, such as Finance and HR.
- Contribute to ASIC project definition, scope, specification, and architecture development, oversee technology access and foundry interfacing with regard to technical suitability, reliability of supply as well as total overall cost.
- Technically lead time-critical projects (if needed) to support the business with accurate resource planning, budget planning, and detailed project planning to deliver new ASIC designs to agreed target specifications, budgets, and timescales.
- Ensure that the appropriate level of skills in the workforce is gained and retained and that succession planning and talent management are consistently and effectively coordinated.
- Work with the team leaders to motivate and foster a ‘can-do’ culture and an attitude to do things creatively and with innovation to achieve end goals.
- Work with the global business team to develop the ASICs roadmap, ensuring that ASIC plans align with the product roadmaps (OCXO, TCXO, etc.)
- Encourage innovative and constructive design and review meetings by proactively communicating best practices, goals, and vision and setting examples to follow at every opportunity.
- Complete PPR and Individual development plans for direct reports and take the initiative to drive individual developments and training plans to improve their effectiveness and skill set in the organisation.
- Make recommendations for tools and business cases to improve productivity.
- Ensure the United Kingdom & New Zealand ASIC team uses the globally defined and coordinated processes and toolsets to ensure seamless cooperation between sites and reuse of IP between projects.
Key Competencies:
- Proven experience in ASIC design.
- Project management experience Current experience and sound understanding of Semiconductor design and verification tools within a global organisation.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor process technologies, design kits, modeling, and foundry interface issues.
- Track record of having direct and indirect reports.
- Experienced in taking the initiative and have high attention to detail.
- Excellent team player with leadership skills in communicating, leading, collaborating, supporting, developing, judging, decision-making, planning, and organising.
- Be results-oriented, flexible, and self-motivated.
Desired experience:
- Understanding of Oscillators, TCXO, TCOCXO, and Frequency Control Products.
- Background in business management or running your own start-up.
Education:
- BSc or higher in Electronic Engineering.
- MBA or leadership certificates are preferred.
