About the role
We've an exciting opportunity for an In-house Motor Engineer to join us on a Permanent basis, working from either our Birmingham, Bolton or Haverhill Office. For applicants who do not live within a commutable distance from the offices mentioned, we would be happy to consider Location Independent working.
Working within our Motor Engineering department, you'll be providing technical expertise to our Motor Claims Department, Brokers and Customers while successfully managing and controlling damage spend on Motor Insurance Claims.
Joining us as a Motor Engineer, you'll be instrumental to the team by undertaking remote vehicle inspections using the most appropriate methods such as written reports, data, and digital imaging, to ensure the accurate valuing of the motor vehicle claims. Working Hours & Shift Pattern: Full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you'll be doing:
- Negotiate settlement of all motor vehicles, liaising directly with our customers.
- You'll be working to agreed timescales and business parameters, depending on the business needs.
- Audit and evaluate performance of repairer, making recommendations regarding repair quality, repair costs and customer service.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with a range of suppliers.
- Support all aspects of the business to assist in the claims process for both insured and third party in order expedite settlement and minimise cost.
- Ensure all work is carried out within agreed KPI's and SLA's and in accordance with our company values.

About you
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in assessing damage to all types of motor vehicles, preferably in relation to Motor Vehicle Insurance claims.
- Knowledge of Farm, Agricultural equipment and Commercial vehicles is desirable but not essential.
- Experience as an Insurance Motor Engineer assessor, and or, a Vehicle Damage Assessor to include damage estimating, repair cost negotiation and vehicle valuations.
- Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) for Vehicle Damage Assessment is an essential requirement.
- Incorporated membership of the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors (IAEA), desirable, but not essential.
- Expert user of the Audatex damage assessment system and CAP valuation software.
- Good time management and organisation skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Team player with a positive can-do attitude.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
