Job description

Nyetimber is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team in Kent. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day vineyard work at their Kent East site, which includes vineyards near Charing and Chartham.

Our Vineyard

The Nyetimber estate consists of 11 sites across West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. We are a growing business which accounts for more than 10% of the total English sparkling wine market, therefore, there is plenty of room for progression within the company to employees who take pride in their work.

The Candidate

Any new employee must show a willingness and commitment to take on board instruction. Experience on a farm or vineyard operating agricultural equipment is desirable, but we are willing to put time and effort into training anyone who is practical, has a can-do attitude and has a desire to learn about all operations on the vineyard.

The successful applicant, after having carried out relevant training, will carry out agricultural operations such as:

  • spray applications
  • fertiliser spreading
  • mowing
  • vine trimming
  • leaf/bud removal
  • soil cultivation
  • vine maintenance, including planting, pruning, tying down, bud and shoot removal in spring and summer, leaf removal, green harvesting and picking
  • trellis installation & maintenance
  • monitoring and recording of disease
  • general vineyard maintenance

The ideal candidate would be well organised, detail orientated and committed, and be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.

Due to the nature of the work, the following attributes are essential:

  • Be a confident driver
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work orders
  • Possess a valid driving license, and have unrestricted access to a vehicle during the working week
  • Naturally sets high standards for oneself and regularly meets them
  • Willingness to supervise and work alongside Agency staff

The position will be based on our vineyard near Charing, Kent.

Working hours: Monday - Thursday 8am – 4:30pm, Friday 8am – 3.30pm with opportunity to earn overtime during busy periods of the year at 1.5x hourly rate.

Salary negotiable based on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £19,500.00-£24,000.00 per year
