Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs, the Vice President, Corporate Communications is responsible for leading internally and externally-facing Communications and plans that promote key initiatives and drive ACFC’s enterprise-level reputation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Reputation Management: Responsible for reputation management for ACFC both internally and externally through all media channels (traditional, digital, and social), as well as thought leadership for the CEO and senior executives. Key owner of ACFC’s reputation in the media through managing financial and all business media relationships and situations along with crisis communications globally.
- Improving & Implementing Processes: Lead communications professionals to develop, implement, and execute strategic communication plans for ACFC.
Building Relationships: Collaborate with all Public Affairs areas, as well as well as other key ACFC internal stakeholders, including Finance, Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, and other functions on corporate initiatives, press releases, presentations, annual reports, CSR reports, and other key events. - Cross Functional Exposure: Works with Plan Presidents and the ACFC executive team to provide communication counsel and support, including speaking notes, videos, PowerPoint presentations, and executive messages.
Management: Manage Corporate communications’ budget, team, and other vendors as appropriate. - Talent Development: Coach and mentor team members at varying levels and career stages to maximize each individual’s growth and potential.
- Communications Materials: Set the strategy for all materials and edit and approve communications including: press releases, talking points, speeches, presentations, and other materials.
- Organization Analysis: Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization; work with leadership team and staff to recognize external communication opportunities and solutions in partnership with internal communications.
Education/ Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a related discipline.
- 10 or more years progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, consulting, or media. Extensive project management experience. Healthcare / Managed Care knowledge and experience strongly preferred.
- Media relations, issues/crisis management, and corporate communications experience is required. Healthcare experience preferred
- Ability to simplify concepts and tailor messages for specific audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including stellar grammar and creative approaches to external communications platforms
- Familiarity with news and social media monitoring tools and reporting processes
- Strong financial and business acumen and analytical skills
- Demonstrated technical, business, presentation and entrepreneurial skills and a commitment to innovation.
- The ability to approach issues from the vantage point of the customer and to help guide a complex organization in responding to rapidly changing market demands.
- A multi-dimensional and anticipatory thinker with the capacity to communicate, plan, and act strategically; the ability to analyze complex situations and relationships and work with corporate and local leadership to respond in a thorough, consistent, and expeditious manner.
