The Head of Sales is responsible for driving revenue and partnership growth for omnichannel retail media programs. They are responsible for ensuring that we have clear line of sight to deliver on financial goals and achieving and managing our $500M in retail media revenue. The Head of Sales is focused on leading the sales team that is responsible for owning the pre and post-sales process for media and marketing partnerships. This includes managing an existing book of business and partnering with the account management team, bringing in net new business, growing brand/agency partnerships and internal cross-functional management. In addition, the Head of Sales is required to connect and conduct leadership level conversations and negotiations with our top joint business planning partners at the C level.
The Head of Sales role will lead the sales team that is positioned as a part of our growing retail media network team to coordinate sales and manage client relationships in the CPG categories across our Sponsored Product and Display Ad technology media platform.
Recipe for Success - What's “in store” for the role
- Responsible for overseeing approximately $300-$500 million in revenue and strive to exceed target quota
- Manage client relationships with top C-Level contacts with our top suppliers and agencies
- Utilize existing networks & intelligence tools to identify & contact prospective brand and agency contacts
- Offer smart client research, trends & ideas (i.e. valid business reasons) to drive interest & cultivate relationships
- Lead the team that is responsible for dissecting each brand organization to uncover different rivers of funding (shopper marketing, brand, ecommerce, national media agency) with the intent to simultaneously unlock and elevate each relationship
- Lead the team that is responsible for analyzing campaign performance statistics and recommend performance enhancements
- Collaborate with internal teams (head of account management and ad operations, strategy and marketing lead, and ad tech lead) to ensure a seamless experience for both the retailer & suppliers
- Communicate with local brand teams (Chief Merchants, Chief Marketers) regarding account outreach, pipeline, and process development that results in change management
- Track outreach & sales activity pipeline using CRM tool (ie, Hubspot, Salesforce)
- Manage client relationships in their CPG category Pod for large to enterprise CPG partners
The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients
- 10+ years’ experience in advertising, media sales and/or business development
- 10+ years managing a team
- ecommerce media and/or sponsored search a plus
- BA/BS degree in marketing, business or related field
- MBA preferred

- Working knowledge of retail, eCommerce and digital monetization programs as well as AdTech Industry knowledge

- Proven history of exceeding sales goals and existing in-roads with media contacts at CPG companies and agencies
- Owns the room (even virtually) – present dynamically and instill confidence to challenge our clients in a kind, smart and creative way to ensure we are doing what is best for both businesses long-term
- Efficient time management skills – able to sustain timeline management and campaign deliverables
- Strong understanding of CPG environment either through direct sales experience or similar exposure
- Comfortable with DSP, DMP, PMP terminology & discussion
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage day by day client communication
- Strategic mindset to develop media recommendations and deliver on revenue goals
- Post COVID travel required to Brands/Agency offices (travel up to 10% of the time)
