Vetsource UK Business Development Manager

Remote - UK location flexible, 75% travel to customers & team meetings

£120 - £140K base + bonus + benefits

Following the acquisition of Vetsource in the US, we are looking to expand the business in UK/Europe. In this context, a Europe Business Developer, who is based on the ground, is required, and will serve as the commercial go-to contact point for Vetsource in Europe.

The main objective of the role will be to build "from scratch" the IVO business in new markets. This position sees, creates, and realizes opportunities across all channels. They are adept at building and growing the business with a commercial team that is properly incentivized. The Europe Business Developer will have a strong presence in the field to onboard new partners including but not limited to vets, distributors, and logistics providers. As the first member based in Europe, this role will also hire, train, manage and develop a field-based team once the business model is validated in Europe.

What are we looking for?

Strong background in General Management, Entrepreneurial Expansion, Petcare Business, Vet Business, Marketing & Sales and Project Management

Minimum of 15 years of experience in business development, team building & general management roles

  • Graduate degree, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years people management experience. Proven track record in development and engagement of associates and a team.
  • 10+ years experience in field sales and marketing with success in a technology focused, business-to-business environment.
  • Veterinarian preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the VET Business and European market preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills: ability to communicate and represent Vetsource International from the sales floor to the boardroom.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to think and operate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work on a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • High sense of urgency and personal accountability.
  • Fluency in English is required, and local language is preferred.
  • Business travel is a significant part of the job.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to Interpret data into actions
  • Ability to build strong relationships and interact with Key stakeholders at all levels.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Business development

  • Business development plan: Working with key stakeholders at Vetsource US, Vetsource International and Mars Petcare to create and build the business development plan to shape the Vetsource internationalization strategy. Create a roadmap in UK/Europe to capture market share, grow revenue and create a profitable business within all assigned channels and across all product categories.
  • Roadmap: Create a roadmap on how we can leverage MyVetReco to gain faster entry into new markets across Europe.
  • Relationship building: Identify strategic partners and build relationships to realize the business plan. Partner with leaders within our Mars ecosystem (e.g. Antech, Kinship, MVH, Individualis, mySmartReco) to build a strong value proposition for Vetsource International.

Partnership onboarding & change management

  • Pitchbook development: Develop and tailor a sales playbook and pitches book for different business partners, including but not limited to distributors, vet clinics, and supply chain companies.
  • Commercial set-up: Seek new partners, including but not limited to distributors, vet clinics, supply chain companies and set-up commercial agreements (e.g. financials, SLA, data, etc.).
  • Partner onboarding: Onboard partners to the Vetsource system, providing hands on training, regular best practice sharing and change management to ensure superior customer experience. Onboard stakeholders from Pet Nutrition (Including Royal Canin), Vet clinics, Distributors and manufacturers that can also act as on boarding partners in the early stages.
  • Vet clinics buy-in: Work closely and manage relationships with the key stakeholders in vet clinics to ensure buy in at every level. Offer new solutions to solve vet clinic pain points.

Sales planning and execution

  • Sales planning: Align the Vetsource sales objectives with overall business strategy through active participation in strategic planning, sales strategy development and sales resource planning and budgeting
  • Sales target setting: Analyze data to provide accurate targets and forecasts, ensuring projections are in line with our growth strategy

Marketing and commercialization

  • Brand identity: Align brand identity with overall business goals and objectives. Develop and drive brand architecture and ensure consistency in messaging across all touchpoints.
  • Marketing communication: Develop and execute marketing and customer communications plans for existing services for B2B and B2DC audiences to achieve new account and revenue growth.
  • Launch plans: Develop and execute launch plans for all products/services and new brands as they are added to our portfolio of companies.
  • Promotions: Create promotions that drive customer acquisition, retention, and growth.

Process optimization

  • Sales process optimization: Identify pain points and develop solutions to streamline sales and onboarding process with partners.
  • Customer experience optimization: Continuously identify pet owner pain points and work with technology team and partners to optimize experience.
  • Internal process optimizations: Streamline internal processes to drive efficiency.

Organization and governance

  • Organization design and recruitment: Accountable for UK/Europe Vetsource organization design, recruitment, and management including but not limited to sales, marketing, and process optimization as Vetsource expands into Europe.
  • Governance: Set-up internal governance frameworks such as reporting, comitology, escalation measures, approval matrices, etc.
