Registered Veterinary Nurse
Portland House Vets, Retford
Salary up to £29,000 depending on experience plus benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse join our team at Portland House Vets, Retford. We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual who is keen to develop their career in a busy veterinary practice. This position allows for the opportunity to carry out Schedule 3 procedures if applicable, or for development to be able to do so in the future.
The main responsibilities will include

• Nurse clinics
• Consult nursing
• Theatre nursing
• Inpatient care
• Assisting with imaging using radiography and ultrasound
• Completing laboratory samples
• Monitoring anaesthetics
• Dispensing medicines
• Dealing with the clients both on the phone, by e-mail and face-to -face
• Reception work
• Stock ordering and control
• Social media content

The Rota

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with weekend and out of hours work. However we are happy to offer part time to the right candidate, who can commit to the out of hours rota.
Standard working hours are detailed below;

• Shifts hours are 8.00am-4.30pm, 8.30am-5.00pm, 9.00am-5.30pm and 9.30am-6.00pm
• Night shift hours are 6:00pm-8:00am
• Saturday mornings are 2 in 6 (8.00am-12:00pm Saturday)
• Out of hours weekends are 1 in 6 (8:00am Saturday – 8:00am Monday)
• Days off are given in return for Saturday mornings worked the following week

Across the group and our 4 practices we have 40 members of staff including 16 Veterinary Surgeons with 1 being a certificate holder, 15 Registered/Student Veterinary Nurses and Animal Care Assistants, with experience ranging from new graduates to 35 years, and a fantastic team of Support Staff. We pride ourselves in being a friendly and welcoming team with a supportive environment. The team regularly attend social events together and have multiple gatherings throughout the year for all practices in the group. Our most recent gatherings have been Tough Mudder and regular pub quizzes.

Our practice

Portland House Veterinary Group has been working in partnership with clients in and around the Retford area in one form or another for over 50 years.

Our main practice is located in central Retford and from there we provide services for farm and small animal clients as well as wildlife parks and equine clients. We are dedicated to providing excellent patient, client and employee care. We are well equipped with an ultrasound with Doppler and ECG, digital DR Xray, dental Xray, video endoscopy and full internal lab.
