Job description
Your role and responsibilities
Our hospital and practices are very popular with an excellent variety of caseloads. We have a great clinical and non-clinical team all dedicated to ensuring the needs of the animals and client are met and the customer journey is excellent. Our vets are based at our Basildon hospital where they would be on a rota for either consults, ops or hospital vet days. We have a digital x-ray, new ultrasound machine, new endoscopes and a designated dental suite.
Our staff are motivated and encouraged to gain additional certifications across all levels. Our vets ideally need to be proficient in both medicine and surgery but special interests are catered for.
Our Veterinary Surgeons can do certificates! We have two surgical cert holders! If you want to do imaging or a medicine cert, ophthalmology or emergency critical care (ECC), we have enough cases. Our varied caseload means that it is easy to attain the cases required to complete the case log for certificate study.
Our culture at Cherrydown is 'collaborative' with a focus on continuous improvement.
For Vets looking to join a superior nursing team, you can find no better than here at Cherrydown. A lot of the ideas are nurse-driven and we respect our nurses as they help drive forward those changes as a team. This is exemplified by the cat-friendly status we have achieved at the clinic because of the dedication of two of our nurses in particular. We are now looking at working towards rabbit friendly Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) award. It has also led to procedural changes to improve patient care and overall standards.
We genuinely are like a family. It's a friendly, learning environment with a very caring and driven team. The nurses are experienced and supportive - we listen to them.
- Delivering a high level of clinical and patient care in line with the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme
- Delivering an exceptional level of client care. Make sure client interactions are focused on delivering value and great service with warmth
- Working within the team to contribute your skills, efforts, and personal strengths to help ensure a harmonious team ethos.
We are looking for a vet with 2 years+ experience and a keen interest in all areas of small animal first opinion work. Career progression opportunities are available dependent on experience. We have opportunities for our vets to undertake certifications as we have a high SA and exotics caseload so interests in small animal surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging and exotics are most welcome.
Full-time hours: 40-hour week: a 4 day week with 1 in 3 Saturday clinics and 1 in 9 weekends.
We believe in supporting and investing in our staff, investing in our facilities, and ensuring that our clients and their pets receive only the very best, modern first opinion. We are very proud of our achievements and our reputation in the veterinary profession.
