The Role
This is a fixed term maternity cover position, until September 2023, however, there is potential for the role to become a permanent position in the longer term.
Duties involve both first opinion consulting and surgery, with some sole charge work during the week and on Saturdays, alongside a receptionist and 2 registered veterinary nurses. You will be primarily based at our Pennfields branch. There may be occasions when you may be required to work at our Fallings Park practice, to cover holidays or sickness. This is only a short 15 minute drive away.
Although the role is full time, to be worked over 4 days with 1:4 Saturdays until 2pm, we are open and would also love to hear from those looking for part time or more flexible hours to suit family life and other commitments.
The salary for this role is up to £63,000 (FTE 40 hrs per week) depending on experience.
About Us
Carmel Veterinary Centre is an RCVS Tier 2 accredited, VNTP, two-site small animal practice based in Wolverhampton. Both practices are within walking distance of a local park, which is ideal if you bring your dog to work or just to get some fresh air and stretch your legs at lunchtime. Wolverhampton is ideally based to access both city life and the countryside.
We are equipped with ultrasound, digital X-ray, endoscope, bronchoscope and full in house Idexx lab machines. We will be purchasing a dental X-ray machine in the coming months and have lots of enthusiasm and development plans for the future.
We are committed to providing the best possible service and will always try to go the extra mile to deliver exceptional client and patient care. We have recently recruited a fantastic Senior Vet to support our part-time CD and to help us increase the services we offer. They are joining our fantastic team which includes RVN’s, one student veterinary nurse, 2 VCA’s, 1 Animal Care Assistant and a dedicated Clinical Cleaner.
Our team are friendly and motivated, and we strongly encourage CPD and self-development. One of our nurses has just completed her ISFM Diploma in Feline Nursing and we are working towards our Fear Free Status. In addition, three members of our team have trained as Mental Health First Aiders. It is important to us that we provide a positive and supportive working environment, to maintain our strong ethos of teamwork and communication. Using Vet led initiatives and building on the friendly and supportive foundation we already have, we have worked hard to develop a strong culture of “civility”. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills and a core mindset of kindness and respect.
Applicant Requirements
We are looking for candidates who share our team values, have a strong work ethic and the ability to provide excellent patient and client care. You must be confident with sole charge, enjoy consulting and be a capable surgeon.
