More about the role?

Our Veterinary Services Call Handling team is a fast-paced environment where our Call Handlers respond and manage a high volume of calls regarding thousands of pets each year and play an important part ensuring pets and their owners get the help they need in every circumstance.
The role of the Veterinary Services Call Handler is to help both our clients and prospective clients to access our veterinary services, mainly through phone calls but also email and potentially webchat. Our Call Handlers play a key role in helping our clients get the help they need for their pets. The call centre is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm based in our offices in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester.
About you
To succeed in this role the person will need the ability to listen carefully to the details of every call and communicate clearly and calmly to put people at ease and quickly build rapport with callers. The person will also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle a high volume of calls. You will enjoy working as part of your immediate team and will make efforts to engage with the wider Blue Cross. The person will be hard working, efficient, reliable, and work in a way which reflects our values and culture. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone with a real desire to help both people and animals.
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • The ability to communicate well (both verbally and written)
  • A good level of IT literacy with the ability to learn new systems
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate, understanding and apply our Blue Cross values
It would also be great if you had:
  • Experience of call handling in a work environment i.e working in a call centre
  • Experience of handling challenging customer situations with empathy and a calm manner
  • Experience of providing great customer service
  • Knowledge of using CRM/database systems
  • Knowledge of the charity and voluntary sector
