We are looking for Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) or Trainee to join an independent veterinary practice in Iver, Buckinghamshire. Full or Part time role on offer for the right person (salary dependent on experience).
Job summary
Assisting the vet and other staff by care and cleaning of patients and facilities including assisting in patient treatments, assisting in surgery and other animal care functions as a well as other tasks involved in the operations of a veterinary practice.

- Must be a team player, willing to learn new techniques and treatments and accept change
Education and Experience
- General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE)
- Animal Welfare Cert at BCA is preferred but not necessary
- Previous experience or training/ education in veterinary practice or hospital is preferred but not necessary
Main Duties
- Ability to deal with pets and pet owners on a daily basis
- Provide nursing care for our animal clients
- Assisting in consultations
- Assisting with x-rays, operations (prepare surgical packs etc), dentistry and monitoring anesthesia and in-house patients
- Collecting samples as required, preparing lab request and other forms
- Record keeping, updating client records (charges, medical history, vaccine status, contact details, medications used, lab reports etc), note taking, registration forms and filing
- Assisting with stocktakes
- Assisting vets to direct traffic (patients and care) and leverage staff time
- Participate in client communication, explaining the administration of medications, follow up care, diet recommendations and general animal care
- Reception duties, answering phone, booking in appointments, taking payments and issuing receipts as required
- Admin duties and completion of forms as required
- Building a rapport with clients and pets
- Provide excellent customer service
- Maintaining proper storage and safekeeping of drugs
- Cleaning of surgery, kennels, operation and consult room
- Other tasks as required.
