The Scottish Ambulance Service Fleet Department maintain a fleet of 1,500 emergency response, scheduled care and support vehicles nationally through 13 in house maintenance facilities and partner services.
We are recruiting a Vehicle Maintenance Technician/Craft person to be based at our Inverness facility which covers the North West Division where our fleet of Ambulances and specialist support vehicles are maintained. The post holder will be one of a team of 9 maintenance staff based at this facility and will report to the Fleet Maintenance Manager based at Inverness.
The post holder will be a qualified Vehicle Technician with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and light commercial vehicles and we offer a Band 5 Salary between £28,187 - £35,365 depending on experience PLUS Recruitment and Retention Premia of £4,155 per annum.
They will operate in a demanding and safe working environment while ensuring efficient vehicle maintenance is carried out to the highest standards in support of an Emergency Service. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the full maintenance process undertaking vehicle servicing and repairs on a varied range of manufacturer Service vehicles, specialised Ambulance equipment servicing and repairs while ensuring accurate maintenance records are completed. They will be able to use initiative to get the best from available resources while prioritising the demands of a busy Emergency Service.
To meet the challenges of this position, candidates should have completed an automotive apprenticeship with at least 3 years recent workshop experience, hold a full UK driving licence (Category C1/D1 or “C” entitlement attainment would be a condition of employment). Experience and knowledge in the use of vehicle Diagnostic Equipment is essential for this position with experience in IT based programmes internet and e-mail is desirable.
This is a full time position working 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. A rotating pattern of weekend daytime On Call will be part of the post responsibility with occasional overtime and public holiday working for which additional payment will be made at the appropriate rates.
