Working hours: Monday - Friday, 48 hours a week on average, early starts

Keith Elkington Transport Ltd. supply specialised transport solutions to the foodservice equipment industry from our 2 bases (Milton Keynes and Glasgow). We are currently recruiting for a 3.5T Van Driver - based in Bellshill, full time contract, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be capable of working alone or within a small team to deliver and sometimes position high value equipment to hospitality locations across the country.

Working hours:

Monday – Friday – up to 55 hours per week. Start times range from 04:00 to 07:00 each day.

Overtime and overnights are occasionally required at evenings/weekends and paid at a premium rate.

Experience;

Previous experience within the logistics industry is preferable and nationwide driving experience is desirable. Previous work with high value or physically active jobs would be beneficial.

Daily duties:

Daily Walkaround Checks – you will be required to fully inspect your vehicle before commencing your run each morning, with any defects reported via an app. MHE equipment checks and load security checks are also essential.

Timed Deliveries – some deliveries will be timed and you will be required to set your own start time to ensure you arrive on time. Most timed deliveries include for meeting an engineer to swap over equipment (new for old) and return the old to base.

Nationwide Deliveries and Collections – deliveries and collections are required, as per your individual delivery schedule, all over the country. Every day is different, visiting different hospitality venues in towns and cities across the UK. You will be required to deliver, position and install (plug and play only) various items of equipment as well as collect and protect returns.

Customer Service – as the on-site representative of Keith Elkington Transport, you will be smart, presentable and polite providing effective customer services at each venue.

Communication – good communication between drivers, office and warehouse staff is essential and you should be proficient in doing so via phone, email and text.

Due to the nature of the commercial catering equipment there will be some heavy lifting and manual handling involved. Although various forms of MHE are provided, heavy lifting is occasionally required. Full training will be provided as well as full company uniform and PPE.

All new employees will undergo reference checks and Drug & Alcohol tests at the start of employment.
