Fire Glass UK is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers, and glaziers of fire and acoustic glass, and is looking to appoint a committed, driven, and keen Full-time driver at their North branch.
Responsibilities
We are currently looking to recruit a Van Driver who will be at the heart of our operations and act as a custodian of our great customer service.
What does the role involve?
As a Van Driver, you will be working in a safety critical role and be responsible for delivering to a schedule and working to timescales. You will be required to maintain good care of your vehicle, perform daily safety checks, and keep transport documents and paperwork updated.
The successful candidate will require:
Full driving license
No more than 6 points on your licence (for insurance purposes)
Experience in multi-drop driving for a delivery or distribution company, up to 3.5
tonne.

Overtime
Work Location: One location
Loading and unloading of material either into a store or across the site. This will involve the manual handling of heavy and/or awkward objects.
Maintain company vehicles, and material handling equipment in safe and good working condition.
Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor promptly, complying with company policies, procedures, and instructions at all times.
Operate and maintain relevant machinery.
Package materials and products by specified standards.
Drive company vehicles to transfer goods/materials.
Maintain the work area, clean, safe, and organized.
Assist in the waste disposal and recycling activities.
Assist with the production control process.
Assist with product quality control process.
Control goods inwards and outwards.
Load and unload goods/materials to and from trailers.
Perform routine facility inspections including electrical and mechanical maintenance.
Contribute to improving the business, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company, by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change.
Comply with the company’s policies and procedures as set out within the Employee Handbook, Accreditation Manual (including Best Practice Quality Guide), and the Health and Safety Manual, as updated from time to time.
Comply with the requirements for the role as set out within the company’s
Integrated Management System (currently comprising the Quality
Management System, Environmental Management System and the Health and Safety Management System), as updated from time to time.
Comply with the requirements of any Core Duties or other relevant procedural or policy documents applicable to your role.
To deliver a variety of glass types to customers, in line with the agreed route and time schedule.
Collect a variety of glass types as required from a variety of pick-up points.
Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as fuel, oil, water, etc, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
Report any mechanical problems with vehicles. £ DOE
Inspect and verify the content of loads against delivery documents, reporting any issues with quality or load discrepancies to the line manager.
Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate a delivery vehicle.
Load vehicle in an order that matches the delivery schedule to ensure all goods are delivered on time.
Obtain relevant signatures for goods when you deliver.
Resolve client complaints on site where possible, or identify, and pass the complaint on to the relevant person for resolution.
Present receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.
Complete logs and reports in accordance with Department Of Transport regulations and safety standards; recording mileage and fuel bought.
Comply with the company’s policies and procedures as set out within the Employee Handbook, Accreditation Manual (including Best Practice Quality Guide), and the Health and Safety Manual, as updated from time to time.
Comply with the requirements for the role as set out within the company’s Integrated Management System (currently comprising the Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, and the Health and Safety Management System), as updated from time to time.
Comply with the requirements of any Core Duties or other relevant procedural or policy documents applicable to your role.
The areas for which the jobholder is responsible will be kept under review and may change over time in response to emerging priorities and organizational development.
The successful candidate must hold full clean Driving license and preferably have previous delivery/glass-related experience.
