Responsibilities

Within the Environmental & Social Team, part of Societe Generale's GLobal Banking & Advisory ("GLBA") department, you will join the global Positive Impact Structuring Team in charge of structuring sustainable finance solutions and ESG Advisory services for the benefit of the bank’s UK clients. This team works in cooperation with the coverage and business lines of GLBA UK and deploys its ESG expertise to design tailor made products (bonds, loans, guarantees and derivatives) and services, fitting the clients’ market access optimization and sustainable development agenda.

The V.I.E. main responsibilities will include :

  • Putting together pitches for sustainability-linked / green / social loans and/or bonds, in coordination with other teams - this requires to analyze the ESG and climate strategy of clients to assess readiness for sustainable finance and propose an adequate sustainability-linked / green / social structure;
  • Assisting coverage and business lines with structuring sustainability features in the products of the banks (with a focus on loans and bonds) - these can be sustainability-linked loans/bonds or green/social loans/bonds; contributing to training other teams of the bank on those structures;
  • Creating the weekly ESG newsletter distributed to the entire UK GLBA team;
  • Assisting with ESG advocacy streams (such as UK public consultations);
  • Working with the team's seniors to identify ESG opportunities with UK clients' of the bank - where relevant, work with other teams from the global Environmental & Social Team on subjects such as impact-based finance and ESG advisory.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

  • Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University
  • A specialization in Sustainability or Sustainable Finance would be a plus
  • A previous experience in sustainable finance would be appreciated, though not a must
  • Interest for sustainable finance
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office
  • Fluent in English
  • Proactive attitude, solution-oriented and analytical
  • Team player

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in UK is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.
