About The Role
- Plan, facilitate and synthesise research to better understand users
- Facilitate ideation of solutions to business and user problems
- Create prototypes of proposed solutions to test with users and achieve stakeholder buy-in
- Support delivery teams by creating detailed designs of solutions and reviewing built solutions from a user perspective
- Measure success of implemented solutions from a user experience perspective
About You

Understand and stand up for the user
- You are able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes to understand their needs and problems
- You have experience planning, facilitating and synthesising research and presenting insights to senior stakeholders
- You’ve worked in a delivery environment where you’ve needed to present solid design rationale to ensure users have better experiences
- You are able to present your understanding of users in ways such as user journey maps, personas screen flows and service blueprints
Design with desired outcomes in mind
- You can explain how your work was informed by user or business goals
- You can explain how your work has contributed to a tangible improvement for users and the organisation
Always think inclusively
- You have a working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and are keen to learn more
- You have demonstrated an inclusive design mindset in the past
Design iteratively and welcome feedback
- You are not afraid to show your work early and welcome constructive critiques
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and thinking divergently
- You should be a competent user of design prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Invision and have experience with responsive web design
Design end-to-end
- You understand the ‘service design mindset’ which involves thinking beyond the screens you are designing and considering the whole user journey, other people/processes that support the user journey and how people interact with it in the real world
- You are able to design within constraints and where necessary challenge the validity of constraints
Work with other disciplines
- You have worked in an agile delivery environment where attention to detail, timeliness and ability to negotiate are key
- You have worked with product owners to understand goals and outcomes
- You are able to confidently present design work and research findings to a senior audience
- You are able to help facilitate engaging ideation solutions with designers and non-designers
- Experience working within the context of a digital programme will be an advantage
- Experience working in an agile delivery environment
- Experience using workflow and collaboration software, e.g., JIRA and Confluence.
- Mastery of using design and prototype software such as Figma, Sketch and Invision
