Job description

About Lendable

Lendable is on a mission to make consumer finance amazing: faster, cheaper, and friendlier.

We’re building one of the world’s leading fintech companies and are off to a strong start:

  • One of the UK’s unicorns with a team of >250 people

  • Among the top 10 fastest-growing tech companies in the UK

  • Profitable since 2017

  • Backed by top investors including Balderton Capital, Goldman Sachs and most recently OTPP (Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan) in 2022

  • Loved by customers with the best reviews in the market (4.9/5 across 10,000s of reviews)

So far, we’ve rebuilt the Big Three consumer finance products from scratch: loans, credit cards and car finance. We get money into our customers’ hands in minutes instead of days.

We’re growing fast, and there’s a lot more to do: we’re going after the two biggest Western markets (UK and US) where trillions are held by big banks with dated systems and painful processes. We launched our loans product in the US in 2022 with more product launches to follow this year!

Join us if you want to

  • Take ownership across a broad remit. You are trusted to make decisions that drive a material impact on the direction and success of Lendable from day 1

  • Work in small teams of exceptional people who are relentlessly resourceful to solve problems and find smarter solutions than the status quo

  • Build the best technology in-house, using new data sources, machine learning, and AI to make machines do the heavy lifting

The role in a Nutshell

We’re looking for an experienced, talented, and proactive UX designer to join our growing Product Design team at Lendable. As the second member of our Product Design team, reporting to the CPO, you will have a broad scope, covering all aspects of Product Design, including discovery, user research, prototyping, usability testing, and maintaining a consistent visual language across our evolving design system.

You will work on multiple products, such as loans, credit cards, and auto finance, across our geographies (UK and US) in different stages of maturity. Your contributions will span various phases of product development, from shaping the product vision and defining goals to collaborating with developers to implement new features and enhance user experiences.

Your experience

  • 3+ years of UI Design or Product Design work experience preferably at a startup where breadth and depth was required

What you'll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define product visions, goals, and key features.

  • Conduct user research to gain insights into user needs, behaviours, and pain points.

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.

  • Perform usability testing and iterate on designs based on user feedback.

  • Maintain a consistent visual language and ensure design system adherence.

  • Collaborate with developers to implement features and optimise user experiences.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and workflows.

How you will contribute to the Product Team’s objectives

As a UX designer, your expertise will be essential in shaping and enhancing our product experiences. Here's how you will contribute to the objectives of the Product Team:

  • User-Centric Design: You will champion user-centric design principles and ensure that our products are intuitive, accessible, and delightful for our customers. Your deep understanding of user research and empathy will drive the creation of exceptional user experiences.

  • Interaction and Visual Design: Through your expertise in interaction and visual design, you will create wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs that effectively communicate the functionality and aesthetics of our digital platforms. Your attention to detail and ability to create visually appealing interfaces will contribute to a cohesive and engaging user journey.

  • Design System Development: You will play a key role in maintaining and evolving our design system, ensuring consistency in visual elements, typography, and user interface components. By collaborating with the design team, you will contribute to the growth and refinement of our design system to streamline design processes and promote a cohesive brand identity.

  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: You will work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, align on design goals, and deliver high-quality design solutions. Your effective collaboration and communication skills will foster a cohesive and cross-functional work environment.

  • Usability Testing and Iteration: Conducting usability testing and gathering feedback from users will be integral to your role. By analysing and interpreting user insights, you will drive iterative design improvements and ensure that our products continually meet user needs and preferences.

  • Continuous Learning and Innovation: Staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices will be important in your role. You will actively seek opportunities for innovation, leveraging new tools and techniques to enhance our design processes and push the boundaries of user experience.

  • Design Leadership and Advocacy: As a UX designer, you will advocate for the value of user-centered design within the organisation. Your ability to articulate design decisions, present compelling user research findings, and advocate for user needs will contribute to the overall design culture at Lendable.

Through your contributions in these areas, you will help shape the direction of our products, elevate the user experience, and drive the success of Lendable's mission to revolutionise consumer finance.

  • The opportunity to scale up one of the world’s most successful fintech companies.

  • Best-in-class compensation including equity.

  • You can work from home every Monday and Friday if you wish - on the other days, we all come together IRL to be together, build and exchange ideas.

  • Our in-house chef prepares fresh, healthy lunches in the office every Tuesday-Thursday.

  • We care for our Lendies' well-being both physically and mentally so we opt for the highest coverage when it comes to private health insurance.

  • We organise an annual trip with the whole company, to celebrate our milestones and reflect on our achievements. This year the whole company is going on a trip to Turkey (there will be boats involved :))
