Utilities Operator
Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to fully work within the Utilities team, and delivering the shift key performance indicators. Typically the role would involve learning the effluent plant operation first and boiler house operation thereafter.
The Operator is the owner of equipment and results within an area\line who safely operates and does basic maintenance the line\area according to standards.
Safety Health and Environment:
- Delivers a Safety Health and Environment culture and role model behaviours by following safety procedures, using Personal Protective Equipment, and works calm and orderly.
- Leads incident investigations and confronts unsafe conditions and behaviours immediately.
- Cooperates with team to keep work-place safe, clean and well ordered.
- Active participation in Safety discussion during Operations Performance meetings.
- Operate forklift in a safe manner.
Quality:
- Responsible for Quality requirements and legislation implementation and complies to legal and corporate standards & policies.
- Reports issues and adherence to quality systems and processes.
Delivery & Cost:
- Implements autonomous maintenance ensuring the area of ownership is within basic condition.
- Implements equipment Start Up, Steady State Running & Shut Down safely according to standards with all materials required.
- Follows local production area standards and policies, reports issues and adherence to production systems and processes to ensure timely decision making & escalation.
Qualifications
- Able to work on own initiative and proactive with problem solving as part of an autonomous team
- Eager to work in a fast paced food & drink manufacturing environment
- Able to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks at once
- Communicate well at all level of the organisation
- Calm and level headed
- Experience of continuous improvement tools gained through work-based activities would be advantageous
- Knowledge of the P.C base plant operation.
- Ability to be accredited under Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) for which training will be provided
Note
Successful applicant MUST pass the medical requirements for the area. This role may involve working in confined spaces etc.
This is a shift role which does include working days, nights, weekends and public holidays.

This position is based at our Manufacturing site in Banbury. The Utilities operation is the ‘engine room’ of the whole Plant – encompassing energy generation, incineration, industrial gasses, cooling plant, chemical processing, effluent treatment, extraction process, anaerobic digestion and industrial compliance for environmental regulation. This is all part of the wider Manufacturing function.
The Manufacturing function ensures the integration of all key business processes from supplier to customers, green coffee beans to award winning coffee. The team covers sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain and planning processes, they ensure optimal alignment between demand and supply at a global scale.
