Job description
We are seeking applications from Scanning Probe Microscopists to work in a multidisciplinary project team to study functional surfaces and interfaces created in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions. You should have a PhD in Physics, Surface Science, Physical Chemistry or Imaging science with a strong publication track record and a demonstrated commitment to excellence. Exceptional Skills in high resolution scanning probe techniques such as Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy (STM), low-temperature STM and non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy (nc-AFM) in ultra-high vacuum conditions are essential. A strong background in surface science preparation and characterisation techniques is desirable. The position involves both research and innovation aspects and is offered initially for 1 year, with the option to extend.
Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
