A strong understanding of the needs of learners with social,emotional and mental health needs along with a proven track record in working with pupils who have significant trauma and attachment issues resulting in disengagement and exclusion is essential.
You will be expected to plan and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment in line with ESTYN requirements. You will be responsible for the delivery of our construction curriculum in small group sizes, 11 – 16-year olds, who are with us due to either having been or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education, who are school phobic or are classed as vulnerable or who require a more practical approachtowards their education.
The successful candidate will be able to deliver the level 1 and Level 2 Mechanical Skills qualifications.
This post will be based at our secondary provision in a brand-new facility in Barry. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team who are developing approaches and provision for pupils who have been disengaged and excluded from other schools.
About the Role
Post Reference (to be used on application form): YYD-UTEACH
Pay Details: Unqualified teacher scale £19,412 - £30,700 +SEN allowance. Grade TBC depending on previous experience.
Hours of Work / Weeks per year / Working Pattern: Full Time (Monday– Friday 8.30pm – 3.30pm)

The successful candidate will have excellent classroom practice, including use of ICT, high expectations of pupil engagement and achievements and a willingness to work as part of a dedicated team that is committed to providing the very best opportunities for all of our pupils.
You will have an understanding of trauma and attachment difficulties and be effective in working with pupils who display these. We offer specialist training and development from our therapy teams in areas such as communication, emotional regulation, attachment & trauma and Positive Behaviour Support.
You will be required to have an enhanced and barred DBS for both Child and Adult and be registered with EWC.
