About Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy

Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy is a primary school, with a nursery, for 3 to 11 year olds in Bradford. We joined Star Academies in 2018 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

The school was rated ‘good’ overall, with ‘outstanding’ judgements in two of the five areas of the inspection framework during its inspection in September 2022.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for an outstanding Graduate (specialism in Art is desirable) who is considering a career in teaching and who has the passion for raising pupil outcomes.

As an Unqualified Teacher you will not only join the Star Academies family, but also have the support of The National Institute of Teaching throughout, learning from some of the best and most experienced teachers in the country, informed by the very latest research.

The successful candidate will cover Teachers PPA when required to do so and have the ability to deliver quality teaching that drives achievement and inspires a love of learning.
You will be passionate about making a difference to the lives of young people, be a committed team player, have excellent organisational skills and the natural ability to motivate both pupils and peers.

Initiative, creativity and to be driven is a must!


You will have:

  • An honours degree qualification (typically 2ii or above) or relevant qualification (ideally in Art).
  • The ability to teach across all ranges.
  • Innovation and creativity to engage, enthuse and progress learners.
  • The ability to deliver effective learning and teaching in the classroom.
  • The ability to deliver the highest standards of classroom and behaviour management.
