The Role
We have a unique opportunity to join Canopius and build a career in Underwriting. We require 2 x Underwriting Technical Assistants to rotate across a number of lines of business over 24 months before migrating into one of Canopius’ Underwriting teams.
This is an exciting role with exposure to several different Underwriting areas over a two year period, enabling the successful candidate to build a solid foundation in Underwriting and a fantastic understanding of how Canopius does business. The first placements will be with Cyber and A&H, before rotating to other lines of business.
This role will report into the Underwriting Business Manager and training and development provided to complete ACII qualifications.
Responsibilities will include:
- Working with the Underwriters to deliver a first class service to brokers and internal stakeholders via efficient and timely processing of administration
- Ensure that all underwriting submissions, new and renewal, are logged, and electronic files are created and maintained for each risk
- Entering of information to support pricing, ensuring data integrity and quality
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams such as in-house data processing, Catastrophe Modelling & Underwriting Operations
- Assisting with the Peer Review process
- Liaising with key external stakeholders, including brokers
- Participate in the monitoring of premium payments and premium review
- Assist underwriters and managers in collating MI, as well as the creation of ad hoc reports
- Progress towards ACII qualification
Skills and experience:
- Evidence of a high level of academic achievement in a numerical / statistical discipline (i.e. exceptional A ‘levels or degree in Maths, Science, Engineering, Economics etc.)
- Highly motivated, team player
- Willingness and desire to learn and develop
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrable problem solving skills
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Accuracy and attention to detail
