We have an industry leading Government Security team who work with the UK’s Intelligence agencies, Law enforcement, Military and Home Office (to name a few). We are here to ensure we utilise our expertise to develop, deliver and operate new and existing capabilities that protect the public, national security and ultimately save lives every day, all done within a detailed legislative framework
What you’ll do
Each journey in technology can look different, depending on the path you choose but all our streams offer a structured two-year development programme that will stretch and challenge you, as well as build your technical expertise.
There are 3 sub-streams to the programme for you to choose from, and we’ll ask for your preference. Each sub-stream or technical discipline is designed to allow you to gain an in-depth exposure of tech in that field and its impact on our customers.
1. Software Engineering
Did you know that over the last three years Vodafone has been building a world class software engineering capability, driven by some of the best industry minds? Software Engineering is an every-growing area in Vodafone, and one that is critical to driving us forward from building our own unique customer experiences, buying quality solutions and inventing the future of communications. Our engineering teams are empowered to focus not just on what we deliver, but how we deliver world class software that we can all be proud of.
Typical Placements: Across the rotations you will find yourself working within areas ranging from the Internet of Things, Cloud and Automation to Digital Architecture. Here, learning is focused on disciplines such as cloud solutions, networks, Digital customer experiences, portfolios as well as DevOps, CI/CD toolchains, new software lifecycles and agile methodologies.
2. Network Development & Network Quality
Vodafone UK Networks is part of a Single European Network Team, with a vision to maintain strong network performance focused on delivering a great experience to our customers in an effective way. We ensure all planning, engineering and smooth operation of Vodafone’s Networks across the UK.
As ONE network team, the team will remove duplication, deliver the best operational excellence, allow us to innovate at pace and drive true standardisation. We will do this by drawing on in-country expertise with the UK Chief Network Officer (CNO) who effectively cooperates with the rest of Networks and the local market while delivering a great service to our customers.
You will be working across teams, keeping our millions of people and businesses connected across the country. You could be helping to lead the engineering and delivery of voice & data services, coming up with new network solutions and commercial products, or helping constantly monitor the entire network. The next few years at Vodafone are predicted to be even more thrilling than ever before, as networks become virtualized, predictive, self-adapting, and ever more intelligent.
Typical Placements: Across the rotations you will find yourself working within one of the core functional domains: Network Strategy Architecture Engineering, Network Development, Network Operations, and Network Quality.
3. Government Security
The Government Security Team are responsible for providing operational support to the UK Authorities and Law Enforcement Agencies to ensure we meet our obligations under the Investigatory Powers Act.
Technical solutions are at the heart of our ability to meet these obligations, and in the process, help fight serious organised crime and save lives. We offer an industry leading capability and need the best people to ensure we maintain this.
You will learn about how these systems operate in the real world, how they are conceived, designed and how they are project managed through to delivery – you will also get to meet with the agencies that use them to fight crime, protect the UK against terrorism and save lives.
Our Government Security Graduate Scheme is designed for you to build skills in different areas of the department and help you become our future Government Security leaders and specialists.

Typical Placements: Across the rotations, you will find yourself in one of the following roles, rotating through each to expand your knowledge and grow your expertise: Lawful Disclosure – a team working with life at risk investigations, IT engineering, Network engineering, Project management, Legislation and Policy Engagement and Innovation and design/capability development

- A 2.2 in a tech related degree and recently graduated – i.e., a bachelors or masters obtained or to be obtained between June 2022 and August 2024
