Sodexo Live! are currently looking to add to our Marine Crew at Bateaux London, to deliver a world class guest experience. We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic and motivated Mates or Deckhands to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established team, who pride themselves on the standards they consistently achieve and the marine safety management they deliver.
This is a full-time role, typically working 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7, where regular weekends are required and expected, due to the nature of the hospitality and restaurant businesses we operate.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe safety of all crew, staff and customers, which approaching, boarding/disembarking and whilst onboard the vessels. Maintaining the safety records and related duties to consistently meet the required standards.
Undertaking various marine cleaning duties to a high standard and assisting in planned maintenance work including, but not limited to, checking main engines and aux generator filter cleaning
Assist with daily vessel engine and safety equipment checks, ensuring any defects are recorded, reported and rectified in a timely manner.
Completion of administration tasks in line with departmental processes and procedures, especially around all mandatory administration.
Follow instructions from the Captain for the safe navigation of vessels in line with regulations as set by the Marine Costal Authority and Port of London Authority
Greeting and dealing with all guests, customers and colleagues in a friendly, welcoming and efficient manner, maintaining an appropriate degree of professionalism at all times.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with all colleagues, developing a good understanding and appreciation of departmental requirements, priorities and logistics.
Adhering to all health and safety procedures.
The Ideal CandidateEssential:
Excellent written and spoken English
Basic numeracy
A team player, able to forge positive and professional working relationships with colleagues
Computer literacy, with a good knowledge and experience on the use of Aps and online reporting
High standard of personal presentation and grooming
Basic knowledge of boat maintenance and light engineering duties
Basic relevant marine skills and experience of at least 1 year
Willingness to attend training courses where required and keen on personal development
Previous work experience within the marine industry, preferably on the Tidal Thames
