Job description
Do Epic Science
TAE is the world's first private fusion energy company, founded in 1998 to commercialize the cleanest, safest, most affordable, and sustainable form of carbon-free power. We are applying science and engineering to design transformational technologies. Whether it's harnessing fusion through the science of stars, making exponential leaps in power efficiency, or innovating medical care with a novel cancer treatment: We're turning the promise of science into reality.
We're looking for candidates who are passionate about realizing our mission: A future where all people have affordable access to reliable, abundant, and environmentally friendly fusion-generated electricity.
About The Role
We have openings for two UK-based interns to work remotely during an eight-week period this summer working on TAE's international presence, with particular focus on the UK and the EU. The interns will work on the Policy & Global Affairs (PGA) team.
PGA interns will play a key role in the development of TAE's public policy and public trust functions, working on the front lines to bring that strategy into reality with public-sector, civil society, and other stakeholders across the UK and the EU.
This is a full-time summer position that also includes the possibility for future renewal.
To apply: Please submit a One-page resume and a Cover Letter
You'll be working on:
- Policy Strategy. Engage with other PGA teammates to collaboratively develop public policy and public trust strategy across the UK and the EU, encompassing net zero, climate crisis, and forward-thinking science themes;
- Engagement & Outreach. Work together with other Policy & Global Affairs teammates to strategically advance TAE's interests and positions with public policy officials at various levels, including local public sector and civil society stakeholders, national government entities, and the general public;
- Education & Research. Work on a range of policy-relevant public and private events, including attending and/or helping to organize roundtables, panels, and workshops, as well as developing the intellectual foundation of the work presented at those events;
By the end of this eight-week period, you'll have gained invaluable practical experience in energy and climate policy research, external communications, stakeholder monitoring and management, interfacing with the public sector and civil society, and economic development.
You'll also gain a deep understanding of the fast-moving and world-changing implications of fusion energy within the practice of public policy, the shape of the energy sector, and the implications for climate and energy independence. This role is a springboard for those interested in working on emerging technologies through a policy lens, broader science and technology policy issues, and climate change and net zero related advocacy.
