The commissioning team at WBD work with external production companies to produce a range of programmes for our linear and digital platforms; Quest, Really, Quest Red, Food Network, HGTV, TLC, DMAX and Discovery Plus. We work with producers to develop new as well as existing ideas to deliver content that our audience loves. We then work closely with those producers to ensure the storytelling and production values are best in class. We’re a small and nimble team who are passionate about making television, with most of us having 20+ years in the industry, but we really value new perspectives, new ideas and new energy. We’re looking for a bright, hardworking, self-starter who will become integral to our department. It’s a busy position. The day to day will vary but will include managing diaries, helping with presentations, research, social media checks and sleuthing, editing very basic clips, and playing an active part in creative discussion around programme ideas. Candidates should watch unscripted telly and have opinions on what they watch. Your Role Accountabilities... Setting up internal and external kick off meetings and supporting the commissioning execs with the materials needed for these important meetings at the very start of the production process. This includes collating/cutting clips, pulling together contact lists, treatments and research. Help manage diary for senior team. This involves coordinating internal and external meetings both on Zoom and in person. Source materials for Team Development Meetings. Support the Commissioning Execs with Internal Presentations, and be confident and capable of creating presentations, to a brief (eg Powerpoint, Keynote, Google slides) Continually research market and industry trends to present to the team in a biweekly bulletin. General housekeeping support with digital tools like Google Drive, Slides, Outlook and OneDrive. Support the Development AP and Commissioning Execs with research and specific production needs. Engage with stakeholders to manage appointments between senior management and production companies. Work with the team on creative tenders for external presentations and content clips. Help coordinate and communicate internal process management. Qualifications & Experience... Passionate about television with a clear knowledge of WBD UK unscripted content and how it differs from other UK Broadcasters. Clear understanding of what a commissioning team does and how it differs from an external television production. Ability to listen and take notes whilst also taking part in the conversation. Strong communicator with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Confident with digital presentation tools like PowerPoint, Google Slides and Keynote, and ideally, edit skills eg on imovie or quicktime. Strong understanding of and ability to navigate social media platforms. Strong creative writing and copy writing skills. Flexible attitude with the ability to work across a broad team Diplomatic approach and able to exercise discretion An understanding of why process and confidentiality is important to a global media business. Open minded, flexible, willing to work to tight and changeable deadlines.
