Starting as a single games and computer specialist shop just off of London’s Tottenham Court Road in 1992, CeX has expanded over 30 years to more than 600 stores worldwide, spanning over 10 countries including the UK, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, The Canaries, The Netherlands, Australia, India and Italy.
You will work within the Design Team, who are responsible for driving innovation and design excellence across all of the CeX brands on a global scale. The department delivers inspiring, commercial retail environments for our customers in order to maximize their shopping experience.
The Role:
The position of UK Retail Store Designer & Fit Out Manager, is a key role in the global expansion of CeX. Working as part of the Design Team, this position necessitates a high principle of design standards with the creative ability to develop each store design on a project-by-project basis meeting the brands corporate identity. Strong leadership, communication and reporting skills are essential as is experience with the retail design industry.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- The ability to work as a part of a global team.
- Manage projects from brief through to completion
- Liaising with all project stakeholders throughout the project, working closely with internal departments
- Coordinate meetings to present store designs and obtain approval / feedback
- Attend site meetings; talking through the design with the project delivery team, check surveys and record site information, ensuring all data is up to date in all documentation
- Checking landlords or survey information ensuring all work is accurate
- Create new & refit store layouts using a design brief and unitary requirements
- Oversee & sign off detailed plans, shop fronts, sections and elevations for proposed store designs and site-specific details where required
- Liaise with external professional agencies to obtain statutory approvals
- Offer assistance and support to the global design team to support workload in other regions as / when time permits
Key Responsibilities:
- Detailed understanding of construction or shop fitting coupled with a strong understanding of permit regulations across the UK territories with a good understanding of building regulations is an advantage
- A understanding of all stages of the design process, from conception through to implementation
- Design creatively to set budgets, demonstrating an understanding of construction costs
- Interpret briefs accurately with the ability to work to set deadlines, in a quick turnaround environment
- Self-motivated and driven, with the ability to manage own workload to deadlines
- Ability to negotiate and influence at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Great spatial awareness
- Able to ask for help & be willing to adapt to changes within a growing department
- Be prepared to travel nationally, when required
- Previous experience within a similar role would be beneficial
Skills:
- High Level AutoCAD with working knowledge
- SketchUP & Illustrator experience will be an advantage
- Ability to use the Google Suite
Qualifications:
- Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Interior Design or other relevant qualification is preferred

Location:
London Support Centre, hybrid working from home & from the office for a minimum of 2 days a week. Attend meetings and site visits when required, across the UK.
Salary:
£32,000 per annum during the probation period, £35,000 per annum thereafter negotiable depending on experience
Probation period: 6 months.
Incentive bonus scheme after probation period.
