Purpose of the role
This is a highly visible and key role within the business. The position is responsible for the site management of HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) at the Featherstone and St Helens manufacturing sites (turnover c£80m).
The role reports to the Operations Manager, UK Food Packaging Trays Division and also has a dotted line to the Group HSE Lead Europe/Asia.
The aim is to work within a framework of continuous improvement in HSE to provide a value-added leadership that is both efficient and effective.
This position can be based in either St Helens or Featherstone with regular travels to both sites. There might be occasional trips across Europe, as well.
There are 1-3 Direct Reports based across the 2 UK sites. Primary focus is keeping the people (255 Featherstone & 117 St Helens) and the business assets safe. May be given additional responsibilities for site services at some stage.
Key result areas
- Drive a continually improving safety culture within everything we do at our sites
- HSE system management.
- HSE compliance.
- HSE legislation updates.
- Assessments and compliance (all areas).
- Liaising and working with legal bodies (HSE, Environmental Agency, etc).
- Point of contact and specialist advise for both UK sites
- HSE Group Audits.
- Facilitating HSE behavioural leadership
- HSE Contracts – supervision, service and budget control.
- Fire Safety and liaison with insurers
- Employer’s Liability responsibility for UK sites.
