Job description
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent typing and time management skills to join our Young Writers’ Editorial Team as an editorial typist on a self-employed basis. The job involves typing up poems and stories written by school students. Attention to detail and strong spelling and grammar skills are a must, and experience of proofreading and a passion for literature and creative writing would be advantageous. You will be working to typing targets to ensure work is completed on schedule. The role could be up to 37.5 hours a week depending on workload, please state in your application how many hours you would be looking for per week.
Responsibilities include:
- Typing poetry and prose for publication in anthologies.
- Correcting spelling and grammar errors whilst maintaining the author’s voice and intended meaning
- Following in-house typing rules.
Required skills:
- Accurate and fast typing
- An excellent grasp of spelling and grammar
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
- IT skills and proficient in Microsoft Office packages
- Good communication skills, particularly written.
- Time management skills.
Information
- Busy periods are typically October - May
- Up to 37.5hrs per week depending on workload
- Remote working possible for those not within commuting distance, a DBS check and non-disclosure agreement would be required.
