1:1 Tutor/small group Tutor/outdoor learning practitioners/therapeutic Tutors/ Teachers-qualified or unqualified required to work with student’s full time or part time in alternative provision settings.
Job details
Working as self-employed, you will work with a range of students helping them with their learning, social skills, and life skills. The hours are dependent on need at the time, but you will start on up to 20 hours per week, this could increase to up to 35 hours per week.
- KS1, KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5, GCSE /A-Level/Functional Skills English and Maths
- Experience would be an advantage, especially in English, Maths and Science
- Available during school hours and/or after school at times/school holiday clubs
- In person tutoring on a 1:1 basis or occasionally small (up to 4 students) group
- QTS/QTLS or equivalent qualification, or an unqualified teacher/tutor is desired or aa a therapeutic practitioner
- Location in and around Wisbech and March, but could go further afield as required, Cambridge or Peterborough for example
- Own transport with business/class 3 insurance would be needed as there will be transport required for collection of students from home locally, returning students home and field trips at times
- Outdoor learning-completing tasks such as Bushcraft, Entry level mechanics, basic construction tasks, Horticulture, Science, sustainability and environment, CSCS card in an outdoor setting at our other facility
Bridge Education (AP) Ltd is small but an expanding company developed to cater for 1:1 Tuition, small group work and outdoor learning in different settings such as care homes, schools, alternative provision providers, student’s homes, outdoors and other educational based settings. We are registered as an alternative provision in Cambridgeshire County Council and are subjected to annual audits to ensure purpose, we are specialising in working towards achieving the best possible outcome for every individual student. We believe every student matters and will support each student to achieve to their potential. Targeted opportunities to transform the lives of students through 1:1 tuition in a safe and nurturing environment, or at an alternative venue, to meet the needs of individual students whose needs are not being met in mainstream school.
There may be tutoring both during and sometimes after school hours and usually just during the school term, but there are possibilities to accommodate a school holiday club during school holidays in the near future potentially.
Skills and experience
QTS/QTLS or an equivalent will be desired, but not always compulsory.
Understanding and the appreciation of working with vulnerable people, who may be in the care system, or those with individual special educational needs.
Positive behaviour strategy knowledge and experience and an understanding of helping students self-regulate emotions would also be advantageous.
Creative teachers/staff/tutors who are able to deal with students who have disengaged from education/learning and getting them back on track.
Have a valid Enhanced DBS check ideally available on the update service.
Must be able to communicate well both verbally and within writing reports, good timekeeping, be reliable and make weekly written reports to email to key workers and other professionals.
To plan, deliver and mark sessions in accordance to the needs and ability of the student within the realms of the curriculum
To be pro-active, forward thinking and creative. To work well within a team and independently using your own initiative.
Must be willing to collect and deliver students using your own suitably insured vehicle from/to their home, and at times, elsewhere locally, such as field trips or from one site to another.
Safeguarding
Here at Bridge Education, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff and we expect all tutors to be able to provide an enhanced DBS certificate upon application. Training for safeguarding and Prevent will need to be attended via Cambridgeshire County Council.
Job types: Full time between 0900-1530 Monday to Friday, usually, Part time hours to be discussed and will be in accordance to the student’s contract. There may be after school hours and school holiday tuition. But, all will be self-employed.
Pay: £15-£30 per hour, dependent on certain conditions, on a self-employed basis, paid monthly in arrears directly into your bank.
Experience
Teaching or tutoring, classroom support, working with SEND students preferred
Knowledge of all the key stages curriculums that will need to be delivered
Strong behaviour management skills
