Turnaround Project Worker, Grade 10 (£38,607 - £40,614)
Fixed Term opportunity until 31.03.2025

The Turnaround Project is a newly devised Project aimed at working voluntarily with children at risk or on the cusp of entering the Criminal Justice System. The postholder will play a pivotal role in the development of the project and case managing children and young people on a voluntary basis where such concerns arise including oversight of children subject to community resolutions issued by the Metropolitan Police.


The Post holder will sit within Croydon Youth Offending Service and report to the Turnaround Project Practice Manager, where their role will be to engage young people, screening and offering specifically tailored targeted interventions in partnership with Croydon Social Care, Education, Health and the Voluntary Community Sector.


The key aim is to provide a voluntary intervention to support young people to divert from future contact with the Criminal Justice System. An offer of support with accessing universal services and local youth provisions being the primary objective


Through the process of completing a comprehensive screening and assessment of need using the Early Help assessment tool, the worker will help young people to make their own decisions about changes they need to make to avoid future contact with the Criminal Justice System. The post holder will work with young people using SMART planning and support, taking account of diversity factors relevant to the young person with a key emphasis on prevention.


By working in a child centred, systemic and holistic way the post holder will ensure improved outcomes and life chances for children and families they work with. The Post holder will ensure that children and young people access universal services and constructive activities.

Essential skills will require understanding of the Youth Justice System, experience of working with adolescents and engaging meaningfully. Assessment skills and ability to work within multiagency framework, understanding of safeguarding procedures and community engagement.
