About the role
With a number of Trustees retiring this year, National Museums Scotland (NMS) are seeking two Trustees to join their Board as it leads the organisation into a new phase of development aligned to a new Strategic Plan.
Skills/Experience Required
Applications are invited from individuals with specific expertise in Scottish history/archaeology or audit & risk, who could bring and share their knowledge and experience.
The successful applicants will also have the ability and experience to contribute at a strategic level and the capacity and commitment to grow into the Trustee role and develop their skills, whether or not they have prior experience of being on a board. NMS are also seeking to broaden the diversity of the Board of Trustees.
National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museum groups in Europe and it looks after collections of national and international importance covering natural sciences, decorative arts, craft, design and fashion from across the world, science and technology, and Scottish history and archaeology. The public can explore these through displays and exhibitions, online, national and international engagement programmes and schools’ programmes and resources. National Museums Scotland also provides loans, partnerships, research and training in Scotland and internationally.
The new appointees will join the Board formally on 01 October 2023, and the average time commitment is approximately 9-12 days per annum.
