Job description
Class 2 HGV tramper lorry driver based in Doncaster
***The job is most likely until autumn time/Christmas, but as the company grows there may be the opportunity for the driver to stay with us permanently***
We are a small family run company operating 6-10 lorries with good foundations and ambitions for future growth.
We require a Class 2 (Cat. C) lorry driver for General Haulage work Monday to Friday with 4 nights away.
The weekly total time on duty is typically between 50 to 66 hours (this includes all breaks, other work etc.) - all hours are paid with no deductions for tacho breaks.
The job involves reduced rests and shifts that sometimes reach 14-15 hrs in length when required.
Occasionally there may be a roll back in on a Saturday morning, paid extra.
Requirements:
- Good English
- Valid driving licence cat. C (Class 2), ideally held for min. 2 years
- Valid tacho card
- Valid Driver CPC
- Preferably clean licence, but no more than 6 penalty points
The driver’s duties will include:
* Adhering to Health and Safety rules on all sites we visit and wearing the appropriate PPE
* Always representing the company in a professional way
* Collecting and delivering from/to addresses provided on the bookings (a good ability to use the google maps app would be beneficial)
* Loading and delivering to and from various sites/customers, usually warehouses and factories, sometimes construction sites, hardly ever residential addresses.
* Some tail lift/pump truck work as and when required
* Using straps to secure the loads properly
* Performing daily checks thoroughly, doing the most basic maintenance (i.e. changing a bulb or topping up engine oil) and keeping the cab and the loading area clean
* Dealing with the site contact over the phone if necessary
* Sending scans of the paperwork using a scanning app
The driver must be familiar with operating a smartphone. Training on the apps we use will be provided.
Curtain sider work, a mixture of forklift and bay deliveries with occational use of the tail lift and pump truck.
Must be able and willing to operate a tail lift and a pallet truck as some jobs (not many!) will require it - training can be provided.
Important skills and qualities:
Punctuality and reliability are VERY important as often the jobs are time sensitive.
Effective communication of any problems and delays with the office so that we can chase the customers up and keep them up to date.

The statutory holiday pay is paid on top of the rates mentioned, calculated at 12.07% of all the hours you work.

£26/night out (tax free)
Overtime: Saturdays +50%, Sundays +100%
