What you need to know about the role
This role will see you supporting the local Area Manufacturing Manager and Operations Manager as part of a team of Logistics professionals to achieve optimum levels of operational targets, deliveries, customer service and health and safety objectives.
You will deliver to customers on a multi drop basis on the Scunthorpe site performing driving duties as requested, ensuring compliance with VOSA operating standards and working time directive. The role will involve driving on public and private roads.
You will operate material handling equipment in a safe and productive manner adhering to all safe working procedures and work rules, in order to deliver the required levels of customer service.
As part of this role you will need to contribute to initiatives related to improving health and safety performance, taking an active part in risk assessment/hazard identification for all plant/operational activities and taking account of appropriate regulations.
What we need to know about you
· Hold a HGV Class One Licence with National CPC certification.
· It’s necessary that you have a tipper driving experience.
· You need to have experience of using a digital tachograph card and be experienced in multi drop deliveries and securing loads.
· Physically fit as the role involves securing loads / tipping / fitting sheeting as appropriate.
· Flexible and able to work a variety of shift patterns to cover for holidays, sickness, and unforeseen issues.
· Understanding the implementation of basic vehicle and trailer maintenance is important to be able to facilitate optimum productivity and safety. Full training and assessment will be provided.
· Understand the various types of steel products especially loaded and off loaded by road and rail particularly Sections, with a good knowledge of the plant layout.
· Shunt incoming loaded and empty flat trombone trailers across the site of finished and semi-finished products consumables.
· Use mobile plant equipment including tracker trailer tipping units, plus understanding of mobile screen usage and loading shovel operations preferred but not essential.
