The M&S Treasury team are hiring! We're looking for a dedicated Treasury Back Office Analyst to join the team!
You'll identify, monitor and manage the Group’s financial risks, and Front Office plan, as well as deliver deals which manage the groups cash position and hedge exposures. You'll confirm the details of these deals with the counterparties and manage settlements.
The Analyst’s role is to handle the day-to-day Back Office operations from payments and reconciliations through to accounting and reporting, supporting the wider team on projects and improving processes and workflows are also key parts to this role.

Accounting- Prepare derivative, debt, loan, and banking related balance sheet account reconciliations in Blackline to the balance sheet policy. General ledger balances to be reconciled with any reconciling items fully explained.
- Provide balance sheet movement commentary and analysis.
- Understand and manage daily cash accounting processes, produce any required manual journal entries.
- Complete monthly accounting for bond related interest and cost amortisation, producing movement analysis and commentary.
- Collate, prepare, and publish foreign exchange rates for use by the business. Analyse the profit & loss foreign exchange balances, producing correct product margin allocation for internal business units.
- Produce intercompany loan hedge models and journals.
- Produce content for and chair the monthly balance sheet review meeting with the Group Treasurer.
- Produce monthly and quarterly reporting against treasury policies and external reporting requirements.
- Produce and update hedge documentation to support the hedging activities of the group.
- Produce, review, and maintain procedure guides, workflows and risk and control matrix for all back-office processes.
- Manage day-to-day treasury payments input and authorisation process in line with the related control framework and time frames. This includes managing settlement instructions, authorisation and counterparty limits management and bank account reconciliations.
- Own all query management related to cash, debt, investment, interest, and foreign exchange risk and maintain and develop bank relationships.
- Maintain the group’s bank account database including account opening & closure procedures and related know your customer and regulatory documentation.
- Produce updates to the group’s delegation of authority, dealing, facilities and card acquirers mandates.
- Provide subject expert matter input to solution design and end user testing for the teams’ cash management and banking projects.
- Help deliver and maintain an optimised banking landscape and structure.
- Act as primary point of contact for technology partners to drive system improvements.
- Drive upgrades and improved usage of key treasury systems including treasury management system, trading platform and banking portals.
- Optimise the use of automated functionality to minimise manual work in daily cash management and reporting.
- Have an overall understanding on controls and the critical role that they play for the business.
- Understand the controls relevant to the role and ensure they are operating effectively and evidenced appropriately.
- Ensure alternative process methods and procedures are in place for business continuity purposes.
- Own and coordinate responses to all relevant audit information and sample requests.
- Deliver on all external and internal audit requests.
- Implement all actions to address all audit recommendations.
- An accounting background with the willingness to upskill knowledge for treasury instruments.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Can handle a complex and varied workload and deliver to tight time frames.
- A good attention to detail.
- The ability to build effective relationships both internal and external business partners.
- Working knowledge of SAP ECC and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
