
Travelling Fleet Public Health Trainer London, England
Job description
Support the Public Health Department to provide public health support to MSC Cruises and Explora vessels, especially with integrated pest management and training. This is a travelling position that requires up to 75% travel.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a shipboard Sanitation\/Public Health Officer or similar experience with a cruise line. Degree in public\/environmental health from an accredited university is preferred and can replace onboard experience.
- Degree in public health or similar science degree with public health related courses. Experience onboard as a Public Health Officer may replace the degree. Additional certifications specific to food safety, HACCP, ISO22000 lead auditor, VSP seminar, or similar are preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Familiar with CDC Vessel Sanitation Program and EU ShipSan\/Healthy Gateways operational requirements.
- Strong technical background and experience with managing teams
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written. Other languages is beneficial
- Coordinate the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for the fleet
- Communicate with the shoreside consulting company, NutraStat, regarding following -up of findings identified during audits, monthly logs from ships and follow ups from consulting company log review, following up on orders from ships and monitoring orders\/invoices in MMS, as well as coordinating equipment and setting up supply orders for new ships under construction prior to delivery
- Update SOPs and internal training related to onboard IPM.
- Visit ships related to implementation of corrective actions following NutraStat audits.
- Produce and update public health training materials for use by the fleet Public Health Officers (PHO) and other ship management.
- Provide training for Root Cause Analysis \/ Correction \/ Corrective action and assist with this process based on ships visit and PHO reports.
- Provide onboard public health management training.
- Work with F&B Division to review food safety training developed by F&B Division. Provide F&B management training upon request from MSC P&L.
- Assist in the update of public health-related SOPs for the fleet.
- Participate in the investigation of any AGE outbreaks in the fleet.
- Analyse data from the vessels regarding nonconformities identified during external audits, internal audits, and by the onboard PHO inspections and suggest procedural updates.
- Assist the Public Health team with general public health concerns from the fleet.
- Provide public health guidance to onboard PHO and other ship management.
