Do you have a passion for travel and love to craft words? Are you a well-traveled individual who has a passion for both exploring the world and a strong background in marketing and copywriting? We're looking for an in-house copywriter to join our marketing team at Extraordinary Journeys. This role will report to our head of content.
You'll be responsible for creating engaging, on-brand materials that are written with a passion for sustainable luxury travel. You'll craft thoughtful, clear, compelling copy for various mediums, including blog posts, landing pages, website, newsletters, digital and print ads, sales letters, marketing materials, webinar slide decks, and more.
The ideal candidate is a creative team player, talented wordsmith, and grammar sleuth who will work cross-functionally with our marketing, sales, and operations teams to collaborate on campaigns. You'll become an in-house expert on our brand, values, trips, and clients.
Key responsibilities:
- Writing clear, compelling copy for various mediums and brand communications, including but not limited to blog posts, travel guides, email campaigns, social media posts, paid advertising, sales letters, as well as print and digital marketing materials.
- Create compelling and on-brand messaging that resonates with our target audiences while also maintaining brand standards and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough research on industry-related topics and target destinations and conduct interviews with team members, clients, and our partners on the ground.
- Identify customers' needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the marketing and sales teams to develop effective copy for campaigns that drive engagement, sales, and retention.
- Participate in weekly marketing meetings, 1:1's, brainstorms, and creative reviews.
- Ensure copy is optimized for SEO and other performance metrics by conducting simple keyword research and using SEO guidelines to increase web traffic
- Proofread and edit copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand standards.
- Submit work to the content manager for input and approval
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM:
- 3+ years of experience in travel or lifestyle brand copywriting, journalism, and/or a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Creative Writing, or any other related field.
- Strong portfolio of brand writing samples—show us the content that's gotten you success, either as a writer or as an editor.
- Ability to write for a variety of platforms and mediums.
- Basic familiarity with SEO best practices and analytics tools.
- Experience with email marketing (comfortable setting up an email or some basic automation to help you hit our lead goals and are ready to search a help center if you hit a block).
- Attention to detail and ability to adhere to brand guidelines.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Must be willing to work flexible hours—the Extraordinary Journeys marketing team is remote but works on Central African Time, so please note this when considering your application.
Bonus Points:
- Travel writing experience and/or previous experience working for a travel brand

Founded by mother-daughter duo Marcia and Elizabeth Gordon—with decades of experience living and working in Africa and around the world— it may come as no surprise that the ethos of Extraordinary Journeys is grounded in matriarchal values, just like the dynamics that guide elephant herds around the globe. We believe in matriarchal systems because they cultivate a climate of being attentive, nurturing, egalitarian, intuitive, inclusive, receptive, and consensus orientated.
