Job description

The Transportation Specialist will tender orders to internal and 3rd party carriers, communicate and place orders with internal Deployment Technicians, contact external clients to schedule orders and resolve issues within the life cycle of the job from pickup to delivery.

This role will communicate information regarding the transportation and recovery of jobs to management as needed. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, client-focused, does not need to be micromanaged and work well in a team environment.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe and cost-effective delivery of company and customer-owned product
  • Scheduling On-Site service teams to perform various activities on client sites
  • Maintain inbound and outbound routing guides and monitor compliance
  • Monitor and report carrier performance
  • Assist carriers and distribution centres in resolving issues regarding loading, unloading, appointments and daily pick execution.
  • Overseeing transport projects coordination
  • Upkeep of project tracker and providing regular updates to management and customers
  • Communicate shipping information to both internal and external customers
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Other general duties and special projects

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in third-party logistics and/or supply chain (1 year)
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality results within tight deadlines by prioritizing, identifying roadblocks, and collaborating with colleagues
  • Ability to execute projects efficiently and effectively with limited supervision
  • Attention to detail with high standards of accuracy and review
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • ability to proactively identify and address the potential issue
