Job Summary
Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day coordination of the transportation of finished goods or component material into and out of Convatec’ s global operations. This position will be responsible for transportation activities into and out of Convatec’ s warehouses in Europe and Deeside manufacturing site.
The role is essential to ensure component material and finished goods are moving to contracted lead-times with freight forwarders and supporting a supply chain that delivers customer service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily/weekly review replenishment orders placed by Convatec’ s supply planners. Combine orders into shipment loads (truck or container) that balance cost and serve.
- Monthly co-ordination with freight forwarders and Convatec’ s 3PL’s to align on the scheduled calendar aligning orders dropping, container pick-ups to meet vessel sailing dates. Ensure the operations runs to agreed monthly calendars or adapt schedules accordingly to meet the needs of Convatec’ s outbound ocean shipments accordingly.
- Develop KPI’s (lead-time and cost) to measure the ocean and truck transportation performance from order drop to delivery at destination facility.
- Update lead times backed off KPI’s in SAP
- Co-ordination of air shipments out of or into the European Distribution Centres.
- Co-ordinate the inbound truck movement of component material into the Deeside, UK facility.
- Actively use Convatec’ s visibility tool, focus on shipment exception reports and follow up with freight forwarders on exception shipments.
- Support customs compliance team as needed with shipments moving through customs.
- Manage overall area to annual budget, measuring actual monthly spend to budget.
- Approve freight invoices in SAP aligning with transportation team member responsible for outsourced freight audit activities.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in transportation processing and routing.
- Manage rate card updates (new lanes/rate changes/service schedule updates) and align with business stakeholders
- Follow up with Freight Forwarders to ensure timely invoicing and no outstanding invoices over payment term

- Internal: Logistics team members, Warehouse leads, Global supply planners, Deeside Buyers, Customs Compliance team and Quality.
- External: 3PL operations leads, Freight Forwarders, Trucking Suppliers.
Travel Requirements
Travel is not required for day-to-day activities, however for project work and relationship development with Convatec sites, freight forwarders some travel maybe required. Approximately 10% of time, include overnight trips.

- Additional languages as required or nice to have
Education/Experience/Qualifications
- A strong Experience in organizing and managing transportation activities either in the transportation industry, or at healthcare, FMCG, electronic companies or like industries.
- Experience with managing activities with outsourced suppliers (freight forwarders, trucking companies). Especially holding suppliers to service level standards and expectations.
- Experience working with Transportation Visibility tools, tracking, and monitoring of shipments.
- Clear and professional communication skills, interacting with multiple parties and emailing updates to leadership.
- Organized and effective follow up skills
- Desirable to have experience with SAP
Working Conditions
- Primarily remote working but needs to have the ability to travel to the office as needed for the role.
