Job Title: Transportation Lead - Electrified Products
Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 (Depending on Experience)
Location : Peterborough, Cambridgeshire - we will also consider other GB Caterpillar locations
Benefits: 25 days annual leave,
Up to 10% bonus
Contributory pension scheme- Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10%

Job Summary:
The Transportation Lead is responsible for supporting the design and implementation of all related logistics processes, machinery & equipment, storage concepts and parts shipments. They will coordinate and provide continuous improvement for lithium-ion battery shipments, as well as battery powered machinery and parts in support of E&APSD.
Job Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Establish transportation solutions for new product introductions, battery shipments, evaluate cost savings opportunities, and work on other supply chain improvements related to transportation.
Communicate with existing facilities on transportation issues related to receiving, warehousing, and/or line side delivery. Perform cost analysis on current transportation processes and recommend changes where appropriate.
Perform activities to ensure batteries are shipped and delivered to the customer in a usable fashion and meet all UN certifications necessary.
Key duties can include:
Transportation solutions to for batteries and battery powered machinery
Evaluate solutions for transportation efficiency
Coordinate with operations for storage and ergonomic considerations
Execute multimodal transport bookings
Determine returnable packaging opportunities
Resolve safety and / or quality issues caused by current processes
Resolve issues reported by customers and process partners
Develop, communicate and maintain supplier transportation requirements
Joint Process Improvement with transportation carriers and purchasing
Provide transportation analysis (using excel, SAS, etc)
Manage Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process for all transportation lanes
Skills and Experience:
Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Demonstrated experience in a transport or logistics role within a busy supply chain.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Detailed knowledge of incoterms.
Understanding of how transactional and financial flows support physical movements.
Project Management experience
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma project management principles
Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems
Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Knowledge of material handling equipment
Capable of working and communicating with a variety of company and supplier personnel
Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:
Previous experience / knowledge of how to transport dangerous goods.
Certifications in hazardous goods shipping
Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor Certification
Understanding of UN38.3.
Knowledge of IATA/IMDG/ADR shipping regulations
Experience of dealing with Competent Authorities and approval processes pertaining to overweight HAZ shipments.
