SUMMARY

Assists the company in maintaining all aspects of compliance related to transportation and Department of Transportation rules and guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Work closely with HR, Safety and Operations to keep company and employees in compliance with all matters related to DOT and transportation.
  • Ensure that all employees stay current with government, DOT, and industry training.
  • Assists with creating and maintaining driver qualification files.

§ Maintains company ELD program (Peoplenet) to include HOS, log edits, setting up new drivers in company program, training new drivers on program use, problem solving for in cab device and driver log issues, reviewing camera incidents and being point of contact for drivers and managers.

  • Establish a tracking system for annual renewals for various permits.
  • Update and maintain facility map and journey plans as needed.
  • Maintains DMV pull notification program.
  • Assists in analyzing incidents, accidents, and hazards for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Administers company drug and alcohol program.
  • Assists with investigating accidents and injuries to prepare material and evidence for the organizations use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance claims.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains all D.O.T. required files and records.
  • Assist the Hiring Department in ensuring all drivers meet the minimum requirements for employment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 4 years industry DOT related experience required; commercial fleet experience a must. Knowledge and experience with petroleum transportation a plus. Strong knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and Power Point is required. Strong knowledge of state and federal Department of Transportation rules and requirements are a must. Must be familiar with BIT inspection process and procedures. Experience with Peoplenet electronic driver logs helpful. Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential as communication occurs between multiple departments.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures. Ability to write reports, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

MATHAMATICAL/ANALYTICAL SKILLS

Knowledge of basic statistics and ability to analyze data is required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and apply logic to deal with a variety of situations that may occur. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to think creatively to solve spontaneous problems quickly and effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

An employee in this position may be required to sit for extended periods of time, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear. Use of hands to handle, write, and type is required. Some light lifting is occasionally required. Travel to outlying facilities may be required, valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment may vary from office facilities, warehouse facilities, and field environments or home.
