Established in 1985, Mekatek Limited has developed to become one of the major Recycling and Waste Management organisations in Wales. Operating specialist treatment facilities in two key locations enables us to provide a complete service offering to our customers no matter how diverse their requirement. We operate a fleet of 30 vehicles and trailers to suit our customer’s needs.
We are currently recruiting for another Transport Planner/Dispatcher for our fast-growing transport office team. The successful candidates would be responsible for transport planning and transport admin, working closely with drivers, third party maintenance providers, customers, and other departments within the business. The role will be based at our site in Rhymney.
The right candidate must have Transport Office experience with excellent organisational and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.

The successful candidate will need to work as part of a team, with a wide variety of daily duties, including:
- The efficient planning and routing of a fleet of HGV vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency and profitability
- Communicating with Drivers, Customers and Sub-Contractors
- Demonstrate the ability to build strong client and supplier relationship
- Develop new relationships with other hauliers and waste and recycling companies including the sourcing Backloads
- Assisting drivers with job information and troubleshooting problems
Also supporting the Transport Manager in:
- ensuring drivers are compliant with drivers’ hours and working time regulations
- ensuring vehicles are compliant with all relevant legislation
- Developing knowledge of vehicles, materials, containers and the recycling industry in general
- Administration of tacho analysis software.
- Accurately processing jobs using transport management software
- Processing drivers weekly run sheets, job allocations and PODs
Here’s what we require:
- Previous experience in working in a busy transport office, including planning and sourcing new contacts within the transport industry
- Outstanding attention to accuracy and detail.
- The ability to communicate effectively.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines.
- Adaptability and resilience in a pressurised environment.
- Customer focused with the ability to develop relationships with suppliers, and customers both internal and external.
- Experience with Microsoft outlook, word and excel.
- Experience of the RHA Tachograph software would be an advantage, but training will be given to the right candidate.
The normal working hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday to cover operational hours of the Traffic Office 6:30am to 5:30pm, however other hours may be required on occasion to suit business requirements.
Salary from £26,500 per year dependant on experience and skill set.
