Scarisbrick Hall School is a leading independent school located in Scarisbrick, West Lancashire. For many the School transport service is their first interaction with School daily, ensuring our values start at this point is essential.
We operate a modern fleet of 16 minibuses ranging from 17 to 22 seats.
The position is available as the result of the retirement of our existing Transport Manager. The service is well run, and comprehensive documented and computerised systems are in place. The successful candidate will have the necessary skills and experience to review existing procedures and systems and where necessary work with Senior Management and the Directors to make improvements where appropriate.
The fleet also offers a significant opportunity to grow the level of non-school related work undertaken, the successful candidate must have the skills and desire to expand this element of the transport service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· To work with Scarisbrick Hall School management to successfully operate their transport service under an Operators Licence.
· To ensure that all drivers obtain their CPC licence and that all undertake their annual training and monitoring or recruit as appropriate and ensure their compliance.
· To ensure that Scarisbrick Hall Schools & Transport Division remains compliant with the DVLA and Transport Commissioner’s Office standards and requirements.
· To ensure drivers sign keys in and out each day and monitor safe return of all buses.
· To manage the transport software ensuring compliance by all drivers
· Ensure that the drivers effectively carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks of their vehicle and that the vehicles are kept clean.
· Ensure all required paperwork is completed and filed in a locked filing cabinet as appropriate.
· Liaise with the School’s approved garage regarding any vehicle servicing, testing, defects, faults, incidents, and accidents, and that all work is carried out to the correct standards.
· Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, health & safety and that all drivers are compliant with the policies, procedures and standards expected of professional drivers.
· Act as a backup driver when required.
· Managing and ensuring that the business and customers’ requirements are met including communicating with Parents, Colleagues and Pupils is a professional courteous manner.
· Manage the day-to-day routes of the drivers, pick up and drop off zones.
· Recognising opportunities for service level improvements and implementing
· Ensuring all vehicles are fully compliant.
· Manage drivers’ hours, schedules, routes etc.
· Ensure the safe travel of all students.
· Manage the transport budgets.
· Manage the coordination of travel schedules making recommendations for cost saving and effective alternatives.
· Work with the administration, marketing and senior leadership team to ensure all school events are organised professionally and successfully for the benefit of all.
· Introduce our transport service to the wider community, out of school hours.
About you:
· Already have or be willing to achieve CPC PSV qualification as Transport Manager.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
· Ability to deal with routine matters.
· Ability to exercise judgment within procedures and practices to determine. appropriate action.
· Ability to work within well-defined guidelines and procedures.
· Ability to prioritise own workloads to meet deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and customers.
· Be a great communicator with a high level of written and spoken English.
· Have exceptional personal presentation.
Full time position, 28 days holiday £30,000 to £37,500 depending upon experience and qualifications.
