About Us:
PHOENIX Healthcare Distribution is a national full-line pharmaceutical wholesaler with a network of distribution centres nationwide. We pride ourselves on delivering a high quality supply chain service to our customers, who include pharmacy, GPs, and hospitals. All of our depots are licensed by the MHRA, and comply with BSI ISO Quality and Environmental standards. We operate twice daily deliveries from our distribution centres across Monday to Friday and on a Saturday morning, and our local teams are supported by a centralised function team, primarily from our Head Office in Runcorn.
About the opportunity:
We are looking for a Transport Manager based at our Runcorn Depot. Reporting to the Depot Manager, your overall responsibility will be to control and organise an efficient transport operation which meets the needs of our customers by providing a reliable service using all available resources to minimize costs, maximize profit and provide a first class service to our customers within legal and regulatory guidelines.
In this role you will:
- Control the disciplines and activities of all van drivers to ensure an efficient service is provided to the Depot’s customer base.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels
- Address all training needs to provide a sustained quality service
- Work closely with the Depot Manager to achieve measurable and controllable KPI’s and budget targets
- Review and optimise van routes by working closely with the Depot Manager, National Distribution Team and Sales team
- In conjunction with the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will also be responsible for the implementation of current laws and regulations relating to Health and Safety.

Working Pattern
Working hours: 39.5
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday between 6am and 4pm.

Essential Skills/Experience
Qualifications& Training
- Minimum 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English
- Full UK Driving Licence
Experience
- Managing/supervising a team of delivery drivers
- Maintaining a fleet of vehicles
Skills & Knowledge
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint to an intermediate standard
- An understanding of relevant laws and regulations including Health & Safety
- Leadership qualities
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organised
