Transport Manager
£35-40K per annum

Working Shift pattern - Monday – Friday, 7am to 3pm (occasional variation of hours may be required as per needs of the business)

Caterchoice is a leading supplier to the hospitality and catering sectors in the UK. Delivering to a variety of different customers in restaurant and fast-food sectors.
We are currently looking to recruit an exceptional Transport Manager for our new site in the West Midlands. Holding a Transport Manager CPC; the candidate must have expert understanding of the Road Traffic Act and other applicable Government and DVSA regulations. The incumbent to this role will take full responsibility for the execution, direction, and coordination of all transport activities and cost control of the department and support the business in local and national transport initiatives.
Working shift pattern - Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities
· Assist the Operations Managers in developing a local distribution transport operation within the West Midlands to ensure 100% customer satisfaction in a cost-effective manner. When required, integrating and co-operating with established sites and traffic flows.
· Ensure all vehicles and drivers conform to relevant health and safety, Road Traffic legislation and Goods Vehicle Operators Licence requirements using and developing established systems and processes.
· Ensure route planning and vehicle loading is appropriate and suggest improvements where possible
· Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transport operations
· Maintain a Development Plan to ensure knowledge and compliance with latest transportation technology systems and procedures
· Advise management team on the interpretation and likely impact of developments in relevant legislation and best practice.
· Ensure that the Transport Policies and procedures are being effectively maintained and act where necessary.
· Identify operational improvements to increase productivity and reduce cost without jeopardising compliance
· Lead by example and a demonstrate behaviours of a Leader within the team
· Direct the activities of staff in relation to transport operations including rota scheduling, dispatching, routing, and tracking
· Ensure that staff comply with policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations
· Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of Drivers
· Continuously assess staff against indentified performance criteria and address issues of performance and conduct within the branch and deal with these by applying Company HR policies.
Skills & Experience
· Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development
· Proven experience of engaging and motivating teams
· Proven experience of road transport compliance.
· Experience of working in a fast-paced demanding environment
· Highly developed inter-personal and communication skills.
Good IT skills, in particular spreadsheets and knowledge of Transport systems
