As a Continuous Improvement Manager for GCL Food Ingredients based in Newthorpe, you’ll be joining an industry leader and performing various duties within our ever-growing production facility.

The Role:
The Continuous Improvement Manger will apply project management techniques in driving a structured approach to developing the annual improvement plans and transitioning operational units from current state to future desired state to deliver Operational Excellence. Approach to include best practice Continuous improvement methodologies.
Main Duties will involve but not limited to:
- Own and drive Continuous Improvement on our Nottingham site
- Facilitate the construction and delivery of the annual continuous improvement plan in line with the business vision and values.
- Supporting Continuous Improvement activities within the business departments as required (manufacturing, warehousing, offices, external supply chain, maintenance and quality).
- Work with cross functional teams to develop sustainable programmes.
- Key driver of continuous improvement projects/initiatives in line with the business strategic goals.
- Support project teams on the delivery of specific continuous improvement projects.
- Provide continuous improvement tool training where and when required.
- Delivering identified best practice CI tools between business units.
- Responsible for business improvement projects and change initiatives across all of the site. (including new equipment)
- Flexible to cover / deputise for other management roles, within incumbent’s capability.
- Reducing waste of product utilities, time and labour.
- Optimising process activities using SPC based approaches.
- Maximising plant utilisation in conjunction with OPS/Planning teams.
- Working with the site teams to implement sustainable quick change over processes (SMED) where required.
- Manage and maintain performance boards & problem solving activities.
- Drive top loss review meetings in partnership with the site production and maintenance managers.
- Drive the performance of the site.
- Implementation of systems and tools to drive OEE improvement across all areas on site.
- Lead team working activities through Quality Circle type activities.
- Manage the general auditing of all departmental activities in relation to continuous improvement, using the best practice frameworks.
- Chairing CI Steering groups, reporting on data, information and deciding the direction of the focus.
Skills/Knowledge:
- Commitment to Company values.
- Understanding CI and change management philosophies.
- Proven track record of delivering change and improvement strategies.
- Demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships and rapport within the business and anchor these to ensure right person, right time is engaged.
- High level of experience of working within a FMCG/food production environment.
- Health, Safety, Food Hygiene & Environment Awareness Knowledge.
- Ability to operate and deliver within a changing business and market environment and demonstrate resilience at times of high pressure.
- Good working knowledge of food production associated processes and capabilities
- Understanding of cross departments disciplines.
- Knowledge of appropriate production processes, equipment and machinery.
- Manufacturing management experience.
- Project Management.
- Computer Literacy in Microsoft office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OEE/SCADA/MIS.
Qualifications:
- Degree in food science or in a relevant discipline
- HACCP Level 3
- Food Safety Level 3
- Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certified
- 3rd Level Qualification in an engineering, manufacturing or science discipline desirable
