Police Driver Training Supervisor

Wiltshire Police Learning and Development department aspires to become a Centre of Excellence for Learning and Professional Development within policing. To ensure that we are able to deliver learning and professional development, which is fit for modern day policing, we have recently completed a significant restructure of the L&D department and now have a vacancy for a Driver Training Supervisor, reporting to the Learning and Development Business Partner for Operational Training Delivery.

As the Driver Training Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

Coordinating and managing the delivery of driver training and associated assessments, in compliance with legislation and in accordance with force requirements.
Providing advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of driver training and associated standards, acting as the driver training subject matter expert; including providing high quality advice and guidance on training strategies, policies, systems, programmes and priorities, training and occupational standards, accreditation requirements and legislative and regulatory impacts.
Monitoring, reporting on and developing course packages to ensure the optimum investment on return for courses delivered by the Driver Training team, encompassing post implementation and periodic review of training, creating plans and making recommendations on how to deliver products that are fit for purpose.
Quality assurance of all aspects of driver training for the force, through personal observation and sampling to assure adherence to Force standards.

As a member of the L&D departmental management team, you will also contribute to the professional development of the department, in order to effectively plan and deliver future training requirements for our organisation. You will provide leadership and direction for the officers and staff under your supervision, whilst working with colleagues to ensure that learning resources and solutions are effectively aligned to meet Force needs and priorities, and that delivery complies with force and external standards.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who wants to maintain and build upon a talented team of Police Driving Instructors, to ensure that we are delivering the best possible driver training provision for Wiltshire Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. This team will contribute towards improved organisational performance through the learning provided and the skills that our officers and staff acquire.

This is an agile working contract, with working hours between 8am to 5pm, with a total of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will be based at Police Headquarters, Devizes but there will be a requirement to work across the force and other force areas as part of the supervision of Police Driver Training.
