£23,358.14 rising to £26,391.18 after successful completion of driver training
We currently have a new opportunity for Tram Drivers within the Customer Service Department. This is a safety critical role which could involve dealing with pressurised and emergency situations requiring a high level of responsibility. It is a highly-disciplined job with strict rules and regulations.
We are looking for people with a professional approach who would take pride in providing an outstanding service for our customers. Flexibility and reliability are essential attributes. Concentration, decision-making and the ability to follow rules and procedures have to be your key strengths.
You can expect many different challenges in the role, and it’s not just about driving trams. At Supertram we are committed to Safety and outstanding Customer Service at all times. You should have a proactive approach to managing disruption and emergency situations should they arise. Your communication skills will play a vital part as a tram driver, where you will be expected to make PA announcements to keep our passengers informed at all times.

Hours:
Because we provide a transport service to the public, it's not a 9-5 job. We need you to be able to deal with the varying shift patterns that can start and finish at any time between 5am and 1am, plus also work weekends and bank holidays too. You will need to be flexible and ready to adapt at short notice. The working week averages 37 hours.
Requirements for the Role:
  • Be willing to work irregular and unsociable shift patterns
  • Hold a full and valid clean UK driving licence.
  • Meet the necessary medical requirements of the role
  • Communicate effectively and in a friendly manner with both customers and staff – this includes the use of the on-board Public Address system
  • Remain cool, calm and responsible at all times
  • Observe Rules, Regulations and Instructions relevant to the post of Tram Driver
The successful candidate will receive a salary of £26,391.18 pa on successful completion of the training period. Other benefits include free travel for you and your partner on all Stagecoach services, optional pension scheme and death in service benefit.
Candidates are assessed throughout the training period, if the required standard is not met your contract may be terminated.
