TECHNICAL OPERATOR – (PIPES EXTRUSION)
Main tasks and duties
· Learn and understand the principles of pipes extrusion and the operation of extrusion machinery.
· Assist experienced technical operators in setting up and operating extrusion lines.
· Perform quality control checks on raw materials and finished products.
· Monitor production processes, identify potential issues, and troubleshoot problems.
· Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of products.
· Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
· Lean and adhere to company policies and procedures.
· Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge related to pipes extrusion.
Health & Safety
· Carry out duties at all times in a safe and responsible manner whilst conforming to current Health & Safety Regulations;
· Ensure Team Leader and fellow employees are informed of all potential hazards / problems that may arise;
· Through good housekeeping procedures ensure that a safe and clean working environment is kept at all times;
· Ensure all waste material or product is dealt with, as directed, in a prompt manner;
· Check disposal instructions are strictly adhered to and that no environmental pollution results from the disposal of any material from the area under your control.
Communications
· Ensure communications are maintained at the highest possible level between management and the workforce and keep your Team Leader / Manager advised of impending situations which could develop into more serious problems;
· Develop mutual respect with employees, by ensuring that all dealings are objective and impartial.
General
· Ensure compliance with the company's Equal Opportunity Policy;
· Any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with your training and experience.
Essential Criteria:
· Have a minimum of 2 years in a technical / mechanical role;
· Demonstrate a clear understanding of performance targets;
· Demonstrate a clear understanding of day to day activities which would include (housekeeping / H&S / recycling / energy efficiency);
· Have good manual dexterity skills;
· Be pro-active in solving technical / process issues;
Desirable Criteria:
· A technical qualification in mechanical or production engineering;
· Familiarity with plastics processing and extrusion experience;
· Experience of TPM preferably in a continuous processing environment;
· Have experience of shift work (including nights and weekends)
