Job description
Full Time - 1.0 FTE - 1 academic year
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University
Would you like to become an excellent teacher?
Valence School has a vacancy for School Direct placements starting September 2023 for P.E.
The School Direct programme is delivered in partnership with schools, providing a SEN-specific in-school training programme. The key feature of this course is that the majority of the year is spent on placement working alongside experienced colleagues within the school. You will be assessed regularly throughout the course against the teaching standards and will become qualified to teach in both mainstream and SEN settings.
The course aims to harness the knowledge and experience of school colleagues in the delivery of courses, working in partnership with the experience of accredited Initial Teacher Training (ITT) providers. Schools, and the mentors within them, provide the vast majority of the training. Schools benefit by being more directly involved in student recruitment and the delivery of the course.
For the PE ITT you will be based in the PE department and will include a one term placement in a mainstream setting.
The course will take one academic year to complete.
You will need to have a degree (hons, 2nd class and above preferred) and English and Maths GCSE (Grade C and above).
The PE position is a School Direct non salaried position (see Fees and Finance section for further information).
This will provide the opportunity to gain a PGCE (self funded).
